Since becoming vegan last spring, it really opened my eyes to the fact that you can almost always avoid meat and dairy when it comes to what you eat, but it’s way more of a struggle avoiding animal skin with what you wear. Sure I got rid of all my fur coats and will NEVER again be seen dead in anything dead – but I have to be honest, good solid brands offering non leather shoes and bags? There really isn’t many.
Buuuut for now, here are my top 5 cruelty free brands to keep any vegan fashionista a happy chappy:
Continuing the amazing legacy of her late mother Linda, Stella is my go-to when it comes to seeking out designer non leather shoes and bags. My recent purchase from her AW15 sale was my oversized Leopard clutch which I’ve been taking EVERYwhere lately and featured on my instagram recently @Djsarahjane
Big up the Brits.
2- Pamela Anderson x Amélie Pichard
The Baywatch mega babe (and 2015 celebrity vegan of the year, fyi) teamed up with French accessories designer on this project.
The small range carries fun, quirky designs, and all very new launching only winter ’15. I popped into Opening Ceremony on La Cienega in West Hollywood, last month to have a proper look. The collection is also sold online there too at OpeningCeremony.com .
Remarkably, the proceeds go to the PETA-approved Pamela Anderson Foundation
3- Beyond Skin
Such a cool, almost 60’s inspired, shoe range here. With flats, pumps, heels and knee boots all available, with no guilt included.
4 – Free people
Ok so these guys also sell leather but I must applaud their very cute “Go-Vegan” range including gorgeous bags and shoes. I’ve always like this American boho brand (founded in the 80s) and I’ve worn many of their dresses come festival season. But now I can rock their accessories too. Bring on Coachella!!
5 – Shrimps
Even before turning vegan I owned at least 4 of their BEAUtiful faux fur coats and my collection continues to grow as do the brand. I particularly like these guys because often faux fur can look cheap and not the nicest in quality, but these coats are not only freezing-weather-proof, but look super chic. AND they come up with the best colour-ways ever.
Viva la vegans!
